Short Answer

Yes

Safety Summary

Why

Plain unsalted peanuts are safe for hamsters in small amounts. They provide protein and fat and most hamsters enjoy them. Like sunflower seeds, they're very high in fat and hamsters will preferentially eat them over more balanced food. Unsalted, unflavored only — salted peanuts cause sodium toxicity and flavored peanuts may contain harmful additives. Peanut butter is also occasionally given in tiny amounts but check for xylitol first.

Portion Guidance

1–2 plain unsalted peanuts a few times per week. Not a daily treat.

FAQ

Can hamsters eat peanut butter?

A tiny smear of plain peanut butter without xylitol is fine occasionally. Check the label carefully for xylitol.

Salted peanuts — just once, is it okay?

Best avoided — even one salted peanut is meaningfully salty for a small hamster.
